Has anyone else ever noticed that the rebellious teen movie or that other literary great “Teen Angst” has not changed since movies began? Always it’s the misunderstood teen triumphing over non-understanding ill informed adults. This is because the teen has Inner light and strength a wisdom hitherto known only to gods and possums. The adults, by dint of that teen insight are made to see the errors of their ways and change.
Thus a greater world of peace justice and harmony are served; it is the tried and trite shit served up since movies began.
That would be scary enough if it were not for the fact that the adults in today’s movies were the teens in the movies of yesteryear.
20 or 30 years ago those adults were struggling against moralists, fiends and other assorted adults slamming Rock and Roll, the right to be free and other big stuff and they did it the same way teens do today. They showed misguided adults that they had an Inner Light, strength of character by the cart load and that ultimately, would lead them and society to peace, justice and, of course, that harmony thing.
Am I missing something here or did we lose out on something somewhere? Either that is so or movies have pointed out the great human flaw, we have no ability to learn the ever elusive; Peace, Justice and Harmony thing even though, apparently, we once knew the way.
Casual observer here pointing out that is most likely that TV and film moguls only work on tried and tested success hence the repetition of, what did you call Wicks? Trite shit.
