According to Medieval logic a woman can only conceive if she enjoys the sex. If a woman is raped it is not likely she will become pregnant because rape is a brutal act that cannot be enjoyed ergo impregnation will not occur. However, if the woman should become pregnant after a rape then clearly she enjoyed the sex ipso facto not rape.
This laughable piece of Catholic dogma from days long gone by would have remained in the laughable section were it not put forward recently as the possible root of Todd Aiken’s recent remarks. Whether they are concepts Aiken holds dear or not is immaterial the fact that silly stupid and vile dogma has risen to the surface once more; the fact that men my age, and I thought I was born into enlightened times, can come up with such misogynistic horse shit then go public with it is terrifying. Even more scary when one understands that the small minded fool holds an important public office.
I suppose one should offer credits to such Republican luminaries as Mitt, Rush and Paul (Three men with only one real name between them) for coming out so quickly to condemn Aiken. . .but then it is an election year? Seems that even ideologues know when to tone down the rhetoric to save their collective rear ends.
