There was a time not so very long ago when it was acceptable for portions of the population to look down on the vast majority of people as inferior. Sex, Class, Race, religion and money were all reasons to divide and belittle people.
I cannot say that such divides no longer exist because they do. But, to some extent, it is at least rude or un PC to act according to those divisions.
I am currently reading a book wherein entire nations were driven into the arms of such prejudices to the degree that elements not living up to the standard were murdered and destroyed in hideous ways. War was the final result of these cruel evil people. I am sure I need not explain further on that point.
Mike Jeffries, CEO of Abercrombie and Fitch, has decreed that he does not like fat therefore his stores will not carry Large or XL sizes for women. He will only employ beautiful people because he wants only beautiful elites to be seen in and selling his clothes. Odd considering what a Fugly Prick the man is.
Now I know Fascist Europe is often used as an example of what evil depravities we could slide into; so much so that it has become a kind of cliche. Not surprising really the further into history the wars recede the less frightening they become. Perhaps I might even concede that fear mongers do latch onto the Nazi theme quite readily just to drive home a point. However, to actively campaign against people for no other reason other than that they do not comply your perception of what is or is not beautiful. . .is the thin end of the wedge. To ignore this man’s evil is to repeat history and ignore the the little encroachments of the 1930’s that led to a bloodbath and cruelties that make the inquisition look like fun holidays for all.
You may be tired of the PC approach to life and yes it does go off track at times but that does not mean its wrong. Send a message to the man with a sphincter for a smile and boycott Abercrombie and Fitch. Tell your friends to do the same demand it of them. Mike Jeffries should be censured, fired and fined then asked to leave the planet.
We need no little encroachments here.
