The internet is rife with mini homage tags for Canadian and American troops and their service. We support those who are still serving, we honour those who have served and remember those that gave everything in the act of service. Each and every invocation is done proudly and wrapped in flags and ribbons.
Do not misunderstand me I believe that every serviceman and woman should heralded a hero. I also believe that for everyone lost a government has a duty to compensate the bereaved family; but that is another argument.
I do wonder though how much of all this laudation is founded in the guilt generated by the atrocious way all Vietnam Vets were treated? Now you must go so overboard that thou doth protest too much the proud praise thus cheapened?
