I have some problems with reactions to “globalization”. It is heralded as the big bugaboo of the 21st century and can only lead to mayhem and ruin.
I drum my fingers and think carefully about all the mayhem and ruin that went before, I wonder, what the difference would be?
Then I wonder if any move toward hegemony should be counted as a good thing? The Europeans are doing it? Struggling through the long process true but they are not shying away. If any portion of the world has been fraught with the difficulties of division it is Europe. Slowly they are coming together, tying the knot closer and, more or less, bridging the gaps as they go.
Is it wrong to extend such notions to the world? Naive? Maybe? I am not so sure that I believe all the reasons I have heard to oppose Globalization.
Without rhetoric what do you think it is we should be afraid of? Is Globalization a demonized word forHegemony?Help me out here.
