Each morning as my dearly beloved and I sit out in the back yard supping upon refreshments the squirrels and chipmunks come; sometimes as many as two at a time. The urge builds, my body trembles and my hackles rise. It is then that my sweet wife lays a gentle but firm hand upon my arm and slowly shakes her head.
“No more.” She whispers and whistles that special call sign she has. JDawg and ADawg the Dread Boston Terrier Duo leap to the fray. Then, after an almost imperceptible nod from beloved, they race around the garden until we are free of the foe.
“No need to chase squirrels any more my love.” explains my beauty the redhead. “The dawgs are more than happy to take over.” A benign smile lights her eyes; I lean back in my chair comforted by her warm touch and the rich pageantry of dog against squirrel playing out before me.
