I heard a conservative worker saying
“We were so convinced we would win.”
Just goes to show how far away from the reality of the people the conservatives were and still are. It also suggests that the Ontarian creature is not as stupidly redneck as previously thought; it did not jump on the populist bandwagon and vote according to cheap rhetoric and vague promises.
Hudak visited Yank republicans to get advice on how to win. He came back with his Tea Party notions and lost what should have been his election. If he had recalled events, not so long ago, it was Ontario’s mass liberal vote that stopped a reform party sweep across Canada.
Hudak is resigning Horvath is not but I think both parties have to reinvent themselves and look to serve the people rather than inadequate ideologies. If they do then the next election could be a thrill ride beyond compare with vastly different outcomes.
